Mr Chartwell – Winston Churchill’s infamous Black Dog of depression – has come to visit, and he is a very real, very large, slavery, hairy, noisy, messy and disruptive mutt. He arrives uninvited and stays for as long as he sees fit. He visits many people: some see him, some don’t, some can resist his sinister charms and make him leave. Others are less fortunate.
Whether or not you are acquainted with Black Dog, this is a brilliant read: uplifting, entertaining and ingenious.
