From the author of The Horse Whisperer comes another all-consuming story, which had me in its grip to the last. For me, character is all, and here we follow Tom Bedford, from the wee lost boy who lives through his cartoon cowboy heroes, to the full grown man who is still a lost soul and a lonesome cowboy to boot. Through the very odd set of circumstances that his parents and sister inflict upon him, Tom grows as a character with whom one really sympathises and for whom one strongly desires redemption. Could it possibly be found just over that hill yonder, if only he would look in that direction?
