by Maggie O’Farrell
Maggie O’Farrell once again draws her readers into an intricate web of obscure family connections through the decades and the generations. And yet again she has my heart aching for the main protagonists and my soul railing at the injustice of fate and the blinkered selfishness, nay evil, of others. I always feel desolate at the end of an O’Farrell novel, and yet I always want to read the next one! Her illumination of both the frailties and the strengths of human nature is masterful.
