by William Sutcliffe
I’ll be honest, I bought this because I found out that the author is married to one of my favourite authors – Maggie O’Farrell. From the dust cover blurb and from the first 100 pages, I surmised that this would be an easy, entertaining, read: nothing too thought-provoking. But Sutcliffe pulls off the nigh on impossible: yes it’s easy, quick and entertaining to read, with enough laugh-out-loud moments to gain the intrigue of any fellow train passengers, but it is also thought-provoking and somewhat page-turning. If there is a male equivalent to chick-lit then this might fit into the category. Men should read it, for sure, as it will give them insights into their relationships with the women in their lives!
